Golden State Warriors Free Agency: 3 potential signings that’d start over Chriss
Aron Baynes
One of the most surprising developments of 2020 that was hardly talked about was Aron Baynes. Baynes, by every metric, is a veteran.
He stepped into the starting center role for the Phoenix Suns when Deandre Ayton was suspended. Baynes didn’t just step up in a big way for the team, but he also almost doubled his previous points per game average.
The most shocking part of his game is how he’s been able to shoot. Starting in 28 games, Baynes averaged 1.4 threes per game. His previous career-high was 0.4 per game which he did for one season.
The other six seasons he’s been in the league he hit a combined four triples. His ability to space the floor along with his size at 6-foot-10 and the ability to protect the paint would make him the quintessential addition.
He’d be the perfect small-ball center and add an element this team doesn’t have. He should also be a relatively cheap addition.
