5 instant-start players the Golden State Warriors could sign this offseason
Marc Gasol
Marc Gasol may not return to the NBA, and after his last playoff run with the Raptors in which they were eliminated in the second round, Gasol has shown that he’s obviously past his days of being a top-tier center.
That’s why he’s going to be available at the mid-level exception, at least that’s the hope. Gasol brings quite a bit to the table as a versatile center.
A former Defensive Player of the Year, Gasol’s length allows him to switch onto guards and hold his own. Even more so, his shooting gives the Warriors something they lack in the frontcourt as well.
Gasol may have averaged a career-low 7.5 points per game, but he did manage 1.3 triples on 38.5 percent from deep. While neither were a career-highs for the Spain-born center, they would be improvements from what Golden State had last season.
He’s not the playmaker he used to be in Memphis, but he can shoot and defend, traits Golden State should crave in their frontcourt.
