It has been over 200 days since the Golden State Warriors played in an official NBA game. When will they finally return to the court?

On March 10, 2020, the Golden State Warriors took a 24 point loss to the chin as the LA Clippers steamrolled them 131-107. Little did the Dubs know that this would be the final game of their season – and the last game they would play for over 200 days.

The 2019-20 NBA season was a rough one for Golden State. They finished with a pitiful 15 wins and were secretly relieved when they didn’t get invited to the restart in Orlando. For this championship-winning franchise, next season couldn’t come soon enough. But, when will next season officially happen?

Nobody seems sure yet. Media members such as Bill Simmons and Kevin O’Connor are optimistic that we will begin sometime in January in order to preserve the following season from being impacted by everything that has happened. Still, some think the league could wait until March to return to play as they hope to get fans back in seats before the season begins.

Whatever happens, it’s clear that next season will be shortened to a degree. Not only will the league look to keep the 2021-22 season intact, but they also have to deal with the upcoming summer Olympics that will certainly be of importance to international superstars like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic.

This leaves us looking at January as the best possible return date for the Dubs. This allows ample time for an abbreviated season to crown a winner while maintaining time off for players who look to compete in the Olympics. Barring any major injuries, the Warriors big three could be included in Team USA’s hopes of winning the Gold again.

But, until we get a better grip of how COVID-19 will be impacting us in January, we just won’t know when the Warriors will be able to return to the floor. Thankfully, the team was able to gather for minicamp recently – though Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were unable to attend due to family matters.

Nonetheless, this time off will give the Warriors all the rest they need to begin their comeback trail. It will be important for them to start strong – especially if it’s a shortened season. Hopefully, we see the Dubs back in action sometime in January.
