3 reasons why Aaron Gordon makes the most sense of any Warriors trade target
The price the Warriors would pay
A top-five pick back in the 2014 NBA Draft, Aaron Gordon showed the promise of a superstar. Much like many young prospects coming out of college, Gordon flashed athleticism mixed with the potential to create and score.
He hasn’t lived up to that hype. While he’s been a solid player, Gordon isn’t the high-level star that will instantly make Golden State that much better than the field. Kevin Durant did that; Aaron Gordon won’t.
The nice part about that is that, for starters, his price won’t be that of two first-round picks.
His contract does not fall under the team’s $17.2 million trade exception which could be a problem, but the Warriors could use the bridge option and bring in another star to couple with a top pick first.
They could also look into how far any deal involving Andrew Wiggins may get them. Either way, the Warriors would be paying a fraction of the cost it would take them to snag Joel Embiid or Bradley Beal, two other stars fans have been dreaming about.
