Some teams are opposed to the NBA’s projected start date in December – but the Golden State Warriors should be thrilled.

The NBA has reportedly been working to get the 2020-21 season underway before the end of the year. The season could start as soon as December 22, something the Golden State Warriors should be excited about.

It’s been more than 200 days since the Warriors played basketball – and even longer since they were competitive. The return of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson can’t come soon enough. Furthermore, the team is thrilled to start acclimating newcomers such as Andrew Wiggins and whoever they acquire with the No. 2 pick in the draft.

This makes December an ideal start date for the Dubs as they have had more than enough time to rest. However, there are a number of star players who are opposed to beginning the season so quickly. Most notably, LeBron James has expressed disinterest in being rushed back to the court after a grueling schedule in the Orlando Bubble.

It’s obvious why teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat would be looking for more time to recover. It’s not fair to them that they have to brace for another campaign so soon after. a deep playoff run. But, the reality is, the league needs to cut their losses and get games going again ASAP.

This is no problem for the Warriors – who are eager to hit the court and compete once more. Breezing through the NBA Draft and free agency period will help them return to play faster and work on building chemistry before battling for another title.

The difference between playing 70 games and 60 is that the Warriors will have less time to integrate their new pieces. This is a vital reason as to why they should be pushing for a December start date rather than a month later in January. Every game counts for this team that is attempting to flip their fortunes.
