The Golden State Warriors have yet again been linked to Kelly Oubre Jr., and the idea of bringing him to the Bay Area isn’t too outlandish.

This offseason, the Golden State Warriors recreated a more experienced version of their 2014-2015 championship-winning roster.

While there’s no Andre Iguodala or Harrison Barnes, the Warriors do have Andrew Wiggins and a plethora of rising stars like Eric Paschall and Jordan Poole. For now, they feel like that roster will be good enough to get back to the NBA Finals, a place they’ve been five of the last six years.

With the LeBron James-led Lakers winning a championship and the bargaining pieces in place to create a massive offseason trade, the Warriors may still improve their roster, and it could start with the Suns’ Kelly Oubre Jr.

“The name that keeps popping up when you talk to people is Kelly Oubre. Can they get him in? What would they have to give up? They have the trade exception for Andre Iguodala as well that expires here in a little bit,” Nick Friedell said on Wednesday’s episode of “The Jump” according to Bleacher Report’s Joseph Zucker.

Oubre Jr. wasn’t always a rising star. Washington gave up on him after three and a half seasons. He then was given a chance in Phoenix. He exploded onto the scene and averaged over 18 points per game last season.

At just 24, Oubre has a high ceiling and could be a cornerstone for a franchise over the next decade.

That said, let’s dive into what it may cost the Warriors to acquire him from Phoenix. Also should be noted they have a $17.2 million trade exception he would fall under, but it’s reportedly unlikely they use it.
