2. Robert Covington
Versatility is the key to winning in the NBA. Championship contending teams need multiple players that can carry the playmaking, scoring and defensive load in order to truly have a shot at winning the title.
One player who has become the face of versatility in the league is Robert Covington. He is widely regarded as the best 3-and-D role player in the association and was a major reason the Houston Rockets felt confident committing to micro-ball in the playoffs.
While the Rockets’ experiment didn’t work out, Covington did show how talented he was at defending every spot on the floor. He is obviously undersized to defend elite bigs like Anthony Davis – but held his own to a respectable degree throughout the Orlando bubble.
The Golden State Warriors would gain their replacement for Andre Iguodala if they are able to trade for Covington. His threat as a two-way contributor would make him a core piece to the Warriors’ championship hopes.
