5. Onyeka Okongwu – Draft

The small ball trend that was popularized last decade by the Golden State Warriors has become the new path to success in the NBA. Even reluctant forwards like Anthony Davis have succumbed to this style of play as going small seems to be the easiest way to dominate games.

For the Golden State Warriors, Draymond Green has typically been able to get away with playing small-ball center. However, this could change if they find themselves matched up against the likes of Davis. This is where a prospect like Onyeka Okongwu could really shine.

Okongwu is the prototypical small-ball center that has become so prominent in the NBA. Standing at 6’10” and having elite athleticism, Okongwu should be able to seamlessly transition to the league as a versatile big who can defend multiple positions.

Picture Okongwu playing a role similar to that of Bam Adebayo – only he’s doing it alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins. This many diverse skillsets in the lineup would push the Warriors over the top and make them contenders for the next decade.
