4. LaMelo Ball – Pass

LaMelo Ball checks every single box when thinking of a potential superstar prospect. He is an exciting player with surprising athleticism and incredible length at the guard position. His 3-point stroke is streaky but effective at times and his passing ability rivals that of the best NBA players today.

There is an easy path to success for Ball in the NBA. His playmaking alone will make him an instant fit in pace-and-space offenses but his creative finishing around the rim will help Ball be a borderline elite scorer one day.

Sadly, Ball just doesn’t fit with what the Golden State Warriors have going on. He won’t start over Stephen Curry – and he isn’t a good enough defender to slide in at the two or three positions. This places Ball in a bench role, which seems like a disaster scenario given his personality and flair for stardom.

Ball won’t be happy playing limited minutes and the Warriors won’t be able to accommodate him anywhere else in the lineup. Combine this with the potential antics of his father and it would be best for both parties if this pairing never happens.
