The Golden State Warriors are wanting to get back to the Finals next season and compete for years to come. After having a rough season, they were awarded a high pick in this year’s draft. The pick has been in trade rumors all off-season.

The Golden State Warriors are headlined in the latest trade rumors all around the NBA. This one with the New Orleans Pelicans. No, not Zion Williamson people. However, a player who is very good right now, and it wouldn’t be for a pick you’d think of either.

Who the New Orleans Pelicans receive

Side note — this pick would have to be the 2021 Wolves pick in a sign-and-trade as Ingram is a free agent.

In this trade, the New Orleans Pelicans are set to receive a player and a draft pick. After firing their coach this off-season and hiring Stan Van Gundy, the pPlicans may be ready for the start of their rebuild.

They have so much young talent on their roster, especially in last year’s number one pick, Zion Williamson. But that is not who they will be trading in this scenario.

The Pelicans would be receiving Andrew Wiggins from the Golden State Warriors. Wiggins is currently on a bad contract, but New Orleans does have the space to take the contract on.

Wiggins can bring veteran leadership to the team, as well as a good second or third scoring option. Pairing him with Jrue Holiday and Zion Williamson would not be a bad thing. However, the next thing attached to this trade is what really gets New Orleans to buy-in.

The Warriors would also be sending their 2021 pick.

What the Warriors would receive

The Golden State Warriors are coming off a terrible season, which gave them the ability to get a high pick this year. With Stephen Curry, And Klay Thompson finally healthy, the Warriors are looking to make it back to the finals and possibly win.

The Warriors are giving up their second overall pick in this year’s draft, as well as Andrew Wiggins to the New Orleans Pelicans for this special player.

The Pelicans would be sending back small forward and most improved player Brandon Ingram.

Most people will say, “why would the Pelicans do this?” Well here’s why. We saw the way their offense ran last year, and at times it wasn’t good. The ball ran through Ingram, which was the last thing they wanted. Zion Williamson will be and is The focus of their entire team. They are wanting to build around him.

Trajan Langdon, the Pelicans General Manager, will love the idea of the high pick. The high pick is the selling point that allows them more opportunity to rebuild their team around Zion.

I believe this trade would work perfectly for both sides. Do I believe it will happen? No, but it is a rumor for a reason. And we are in a league where anything can happen.
