2. Deni Avdija

If you haven’t spent much time learning about foreign prospects, you might not understand why Deni Avdija is projected to be a top 10 pick. But, there is some truth to his game.

Pros

Avdija is a 6’9″ forward with excellent court vision and creativity as a ball-handler. He frequently finds his teammates for open looks and completes passes that few prospects in this class can make.

Combine Avdija’s size with his high-IQ and it’s easy to see why so many scouts are in love with his game. Avdija is going to make good reads as a rookie and will be ready to contribute right away as he has been playing against grown competition his whole life.

Cons

The main thing holding Avdija back is his shooting. He shot below 30 percent from the 3-point line during his time in Maccabi Tel Aviv and struggled to create his own shot off the dribble. However, he was actually a moderate shooter on catch-and-shoot attempts and has shown a willingness to improve.

Avdija will need to prove he can create looks off the dribble but his work ethic gives us reason to think he will figure it out eventually. At 19-years of age, Avdija has time to blossom into a jack of all trades. The Warriors might want to buy stock on this prospect early and help him reach his full potential.
