1. Devin Vassell

There are two things that make you a great modern-day wing player: Defense and 3-point shooting. Devin Vassell stands alone as the best two-way prospect in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Pros

Let’s start with his 3-point stroke. Vassell was as consistent as they come during his two years in college, drilling over 40 percent of his 168 career attempts. He has a high-arching release that will be difficult to contest and is a superb catch-and-shoot threat.

On defense, Vassell has lanky arms and quick feet to discourage opponents from shooting around him. He is great at making up ground for chase-down blocks and used his length to rack up 42 steals last year.

Cons

His greatest weakness may be his limited upside. Vassell hasn’t shown to be a skilled creator off the dribble – limiting his potential to be an offensive superstar. While he has enough leap to play above the rim, his frail frame will likely stop him from attacking the rim too much in the NBA.

Vassell isn’t going to be a star – but he can fill the 3-and-D role perfectly for Golden State. He isn’t the type of prospect you would traditionally want with the No. 2 overall pick but his fit with the team might be too good to ignore.
