Minnesota Timberwolves — James Johnson

A former first-round pick, James Johnson spent part of last season with the Heat and the latter part with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

With the Wolves, he averaged 12 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He showed an all-around game that was impressive. He’s been doing that his entire career, one reason he was given a $60 million multi-year extension.

That deal will expire at the end of next season, and if the Warriors wanted to bring him in and spend the money to do so, it would be covered by the trade exception. A lengthy and gritty 6-foot-7 forward, Johnson would be a terrific addition for the team’s small-ball lineup.

He’d also be like a younger Andre Iguodala, a defensive-minded veteran leader. He’s the best target on the Wolves, and a player Golden state, given his versatility on both ends of the court, should look into trading for.
