Boston Celtics — Marcus Smart

Earlier this offseason, Marcus Smart was a name that every Warriors fan was talking about. Trending upward after having the best shooting season of his career, Smart would be a prime candidate to be added with the Warriors trade exception.

He wasn’t the focal point of the offense, but Smart’s willingness to shoot and be aggressive was one key reason the Celtics made a trip to the Western Conference Finals. Smart ended the season averaging a career-high 12.9 points per game.

He was also averaging a career-high 2.3 triples per game. One of the league’s most aggressive defenders, Smart would be the perfect addition for Golden State, giving them their gritty edge back.

To acquire Smart, the Warriors would have to deal their second-overall pick and then potentially more on top of that. A top-tier defender and an improving shooter, Smart would be an ideal addition, but the cost would remain the focal point of any conversation.
