Golden State Warriors: Proposing a trade which lands Orlando in the lottery
By Justin Lee
Could the Golden State Warriors trade for Aaron Gordon within the next week?
According to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, there are league sources saying that the Orlando Magic are wanting to move up into the lottery and are willing to package a trade with their 15th pick and Aaron Gordon. The Golden State Warriors could be potential suitors.
The Golden State Warriors finished last season as the worst team in the NBA. With a final record of 15-50, making it their second-worst season of all time. The worst being in 1953 when the Philadelphia Warriors finished their season 12-57.
Having as bad of a season as they did is unfamiliar territory for Warriors fans, where just a few years ago they were on the opposite side of history. In 2015 they finished with the greatest record of all time, going 73-9.
Unfortunately, they would lose the Finals in 2015 to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors have been a dynasty for nearly five years now and are looking to get back to that level this season.
With a 15-50 record, the Warriors clinched the second overall pick in this year’s draft, and many teams are interested in trading for that pick.
One of the teams that are currently involved in trade rumors is the Orlando Magic. They currently have the 15th overall pick and just barely missed the lottery. Orlando finished with a 33-40 record and was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Milwaukee Bucks.
Orlando has a few assets that can be used in their potential trade. The Magic have their first-round pick, as well as a few good young players. One of the players centered around the trade rumors is Aaron Gordon.
This trade would be great for both sides and get each team what they are looking for.
Golden State Warriors acquire: Aaron Gordon, Terrence Ross, No. 15 pick
Orlando Magic acquire: Andrew Wiggins, No. 2 pick
So, why would both of these teams do this trade?
