The Magic can finally start their rebuild
It may be time to end the Aaron Gordon experiment in Orlando. For years now, the Magic have been a “middle of the pack” team, one that was never headed in one certain direction, at least that’s what it feels like.
They haven’t competed for a championship in a very long time, and it may be time to start thinking about an actual rebuild.
Yes, Orlando usually makes the playoffs, but most of the time it’s a very low seed. It seems that every year they are a borderline playoff team, And in the East that can look bad. They made the eighth seed this past season with a 33-40 record and were eliminated by Giannis and the Bucks.
The Magic found themselves exiting in the first round for the second straight year. Therefore, it doesn’t help their odds in the draft. If Orlando wants to start building a contending team, it needs to start in the draft because it likely won’t happen in free agency.

In this trade, they would be dealing away Aaron Gordon and Terrence Ross for Andrew Wiggins and the No. 2 overall pick. Adding Andrew Wiggins and Terrence Ross is the only way this deal can be made with the cap space both teams have.
The Magic are getting a great scorer in Andrew Wiggins, especially as a second option. It would be the first time in a while that the Magic had a definite second-best player. The past few seasons it was either Jonathan Isaac or Aaron Gordon.
Andrew Wiggins can also have the chance to show that he is a great player after being casted off twice now.
Wiggins averaged 19 points a game last season and was very efficient at getting to the basket and drawing fouls, which, by the way, is what Steve Clifford loves. He also shot a smooth 33 percent from three on six attempts a game, which means he could fill the shooting void that Terrence Ross would be leaving behind.
With their now second pick in this scenario, the Magic could find a potential franchise player to build around. It most likely would not be Wiseman, considering they have an All-Star center in Nikola Vucevic. Anthony Edwards is a guy that has drawn some comparisons to Victor, who was also drafted second overall by the Magic.
Anthony Edwards was the highest-scoring freshman in college basketball last season, averaging 20 points per game.
He can score at all three levels and is known for his ability to run the fast break and stop on a dime. Edwards also showed flashes of great on-ball and off-ball defense, as well as his high IQ playing the passing lanes.
This trade would be great for the fan base, and the organization. It would give the fans a sense of what direction the team is actually heading in.
