Acquiring Draymond Green

This feels like one of the more reasonable deal, but one the Warriors have likely at least thought of. Both Love and Green are on contracts that may have been a bit more so for their reputation on their team than their current playing level.

Green’s play has declined recently, and he’s been far from what fans were used to. He’s no longer the Defensive Player of the Year that he used to be, and it’s tough to envision him becoming a competent shooter again.

As for Love, his play has also declined from what it once was, but it’s been far from poor. Love has still played at a high level even on a team that’s continued to be among the worst in the Eastern Conference. Love averaged 2.6 threes per game last season.

It was the most of his career, and he’s continued to prove that he can change his game with the different teams he is on. Love for Green is a hard swap, as Golden State likely values Green’s defense more than Love’s offense.

It, at the very least, makes sense.
