Scouting Report. G. Georgia. player. 86. Pick Analysis. Anthony Edwards. 1

There is great speculation as to who the Minnesota Timberwolves will select No. 1 overall. They have reason to take a chance on potential superstars like LaMelo Ball and James Wiseman despite already having a strong one-two punch in Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell.

However, it makes the most sense for Minnesota to take Anthony Edwards with the top pick. Not only does Edwards look like the right choice from a fit standpoint – but he also might have the highest ceiling of anyone in the draft.

Analysts are split on Edwards’ potential due to his poor shot selection and defensive tendencies as a freshman in Georgia. But, I think most of those concerns can be chalked up to being the sole leader of a poor collegiate team. Under a better system, those flaws in Edwards’ game will evaporate.

In place of those flaws will be his greatest strengths as a pure scorer and lockdown perimeter threat. Edwards has all the makings of an elite two-way force in the NBA. Fitting him in as the third piece to the puzzle next to Towns and Russell would make the Wolves a scary team to play in the future.
