With the second pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors struck gold by selecting James Wiseman.

In a move we all saw coming, the Golden State Warriors chose to select James Wiseman with the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. While some may have been surprised the franchise didn’t trade the pick – there should be no question as to why they selected Wiseman.

Wiseman is a hulk sized center with high-level athleticism and potential as a rim-runner. It’s easy to see how he will fit in perfectly with the Warriors frenetic playstyle. Plugging him in the space-and-pace era as an anchor in the paint will work wonders for the Dubs.

With the news that Klay Thompson has suffered a potentially season-ending injury – it’s huge the Warriors add a piece as valuable as Wiseman. He will not only help elevate the Dubs on defense but score a ton of easy points around the rim.

A starting lineup of Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and Wiseman is enough to get you into the playoffs cleanly. The only question is, will Wiseman’s inexperience hold them back from going any further?

Wiseman has a ways to go as a shooter – though some believe he can one day expand his game to the 3-point line as a Chris Bosh type of contributor. However, more concerning is his basketball instincts which were a problem heading into college. We have to imagine this has only grown worse as he has spent the las year away from competitive play.

Nonetheless, Wiseman is a big-man that the Dubs can instantly plug into their rotation. We can expect Wiseman to make an impact right away as a two-way threat. While this next season might be a rough one due to injuries, Warriors fans can get excited to see Wiseman crush some lobs and block shots.
