Golden State Warriors: Ranking 8 best wings to target in FA
By Tony Pesta
3. Rodney Hood
An Achilles injury cut Rodney Hood’s season short – but he was looking like the perfect role player to pair with two elite guards in Portland. This should make him an easy fit with Golden State.
Pros
Hood can score the ball fluidly. Whether it be off-dribble pull-ups or catch-and-shoot attempts, Hood is going to score in bunches wherever he ends up next season.
Before his injury, Hood was posting 11.0 points on 49.3 percent shooting from beyond the arch. If he can even come close to replicating this production for the Warriors he will be a welcomed addition to their bench.
Cons
While his Defensive Rating wasn’t ideal for the Blazers – he did rank second on the roster in Defensive Win Shares. Even so, the eye-test tells us Hood isn’t a very impactful defender and won’t be the missing key to patching up this defense.
Still, his strengths on offense will outweigh any potential mishaps that happen on defense. As long as his Achilles injury doesn’t significantly hinder his ability to move, Hood should be able to play quality minutes for the Warriors.
