Following the devastating news about Klay Thompson, the Splash Bro’s era is officially in jeopardy for the Golden State Warriors.

Man, it’s hard to express how disheartening it is to hear that just one month before making his highly anticipated return to the Golden State Warriors – Klay Thompson suffered a significant lower leg injury that will undoubtedly alter the trajectory of his career.

Chris Haynes reported that the fear is Thompson has injured his Achilles tendon. This is following a devastating ACL tear in his other leg. For a 30-year-old guard, this is incredibly bad news.

Thompson, a five-time All-Star and a borderline superstar has been one of the driving forces behind an all-time great dynasty in the NBA. Without a doubt, he is the greatest 3-and-D player to ever play the game and the perfect partner to run alongside Stephen Curry.

Together, Thompson and Curry stand as the best shooting duo in NBA history. The thrill of watching these two play off each other and continuously one-up each other throughout the decade will never be matched.

But, the Warriors have to face a harsh reality now. This may be it for Thompson as we know him. The damage of multiple injuries to the lower legs will have a long-lasting impact on the aging guard. While his 3-point shooting will keep him liable – how much of a hit will this have on his athleticism?

It’s hard to see Thompson returning to an All-Star level after this blow. In actuality, it’s difficult to see if he will still be valuable in a few years. We just don’t know how quickly these injuries will cause him to decline.

I think I speak for NBA fans everywhere when I say I hope we get to see the Splash Brothers battle alongside each other at a high-level one more time before it’s all said and done.
