Fit

We’ve hinted at it a few times, but the main reason Wiseman is a perfect addition is because he’s exactly what Golden State needs. They don’t have a traditional center. Chriss and Looney are both power forwards.

They don’t have a rim protector as both Chriss and Looney are more hustle-minded rebounding options. They don’t have size as their biggest player is Smiley, and he’s not looking at too many minutes this season.

Now, they may not have Klay Thompson either. All that combines to make Wiseman the perfect option. He’ll add a rim-protecting big man.

He’ll add a competent and potentially dominant rim-rolling big man. His 7-foot-6 wingspan should allow him to dominant the pick-and-roll with an elite playmaker like Draymond Green or Stephen Curry leading the way as the handler.

The Warriors didn’t have a need for any other positions. Drafting Wiseman, once they were forced to keep the pick, wasn’t just the smart move, but it realistically seemed like the only move for them.
