The Golden State Warriors waived Ky Bowman on Friday and will likely target one of the remaining free-agent point guards in the near future.

With one of their two second-round picks, the Golden State Warriors drafted Nico Mannion.

He was the top point guard prospect of the 2020 recruiting class yet his stint in Arizona didn’t transition him into a first-round pick. Following the draft, the Warriors had three point guards on their roster.

Assuming they keep Mannion on the 15-man roster, they would’ve had Ky Bowman, Mannion and Stephen Curry. After waiving Bowman, it’s appeared the Warriors are more seriously targeting a backup point guard.

There are a plethora of options on the market, but to say Bowman’s waiving was a surprise is an understatement. He had a solid season in the Bay Area, being converted from a two-way contract to a full-time Warrior.

He’s out, and the team will end up targeting another point guard or risk going into the season without a true backup. That said, assuming that’s their strategy, let’s dive into three point guards that the team must consider signing.
