Nerlens Noel

Golden State Warriors rookie, James Wiseman, is mostly going to fill the role as rim-runner for the team next season. But, it wouldn’t hurt to have a more experienced player like Nerlens Noel in the rotation for backup.

Noel can act as a mentor for Wiseman. Despite only being 25 years old, Noel has been on three different teams and had his career take multiple twisting turns. He understands what it takes to remain on an NBA roster even with his limited shooting ability. It would be good for Noel to teach Wiseman about some of the intangibles that have kept him viable in the league.

Still, he can do more than act as a locker room presence. Noel is still an above-average rim protector, blocking 1.5 shots per game last year. His long arms and 6’10” frame help him defend the paint at a high level.

Adding a player like Noel could be vital to making sure Wiseman isn’t overwhelmed by being thrown into the fire too early in his career.
