The Golden State Warriors are lucky to have Bob Myers in charge as he might be the best GM in basketball today.

The offseason is where NBA General Managers have a chance to shine. For Bob Myers and the Golden State Warriors, this has been a time to feel proud of the front office in charge of this franchise.

Not many teams are capable of losing talent like Kevin Durant and bouncing back. In fact, few teams are capable of attracting a superstar like Durant in the first place. Nonetheless, Myers has been able to build a dynasty in Golden State, stack the deck to a degree we have never seen before, have it all crash down in his face and then rebuild it from scratch all over again.

Myers has been quick to work ever since losing Durant last year. It should be recognized that Myers was able to flip the loss of Durant into the acquisition of a young All-Star in D’Angelo Russell. Many franchises have seen their stars leave in free agency for nothing in return – but not Myers.

But, the work didn’t stop there. Russell was later repackaged into a deal for another young asset in Andrew Wiggins and a potentially valuable future draft pick. From there, Myers has been nonstop looking to improve the team.

In the last few weeks, Myers added star big-man James Wiseman to the team, traded for Kelly Oubre Jr. by only giving up a future draft pick – and signed multiple free agents that could be helpful next season.

In order to accomplish all of this, the Warriors had to take on over $80 million dollars in taxes. But, the price of competing for a championship was worth it to this front office. This hasn’t been the case for many other teams – but the Warriors should be thankful for the people they have in charge.
