Kelly Oubre Jr.

Grade: A+

On all accounts, the trade for Kelly Oubre Jr. was a steal for Golden State. They acquired a highly talented 24-year-old for a protected first round pick that ultimately will turn into multiple second round picks for the Oklahoma City Thunder (assuming the Warriors land outside of the top 20 in next year’s draft).

The price they paid for Oubre was minimal. But, his potential production is high. Oubre’s offensive output was comparable to Andrew Wiggins last season. His efficiency as a catch-and-shoot threat and slasher gives Oubre a real chance to be the Warriors’ second-best scoring option. Even if he defers to a smaller role, Oubre will score easy points in this system.

On defense, Oubre is a lanky defender with the type of toughness that will win over Draymond Green. As far as the Dubs’ starting lineup is concerned, Oubre will make up for any holes on the perimeter left from losing Klay Thompson.

Oubre can be a pivotal member of this team moving forward into the new decade. This move was a masterpiece from Bob Myers and one that could pay dividends for years to come.
