Without a doubt, the Golden State Warriors have become the most underrated team in the NBA. This squad is more than capable of winning a title.

Life hasn’t been easy for the Golden State Warriors lately, that’s for sure. Things have spiraled out of control ever since their disastrous 2019 NBA Playoff run and it has only grown worse with Klay Thompson suffering yet another season-ending injury. This is a crushing blow to a franchise desperately attempting to hold onto their dynasty.

To no surprise, countless fans have begun to count the Warriors out next year. With the likes of Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala off the roster, plus the injury to Thompson – people aren’t very optimistic of the Warriors’ title hopes.

Some have gone far enough to say the Warriors could miss the playoffs entirely, citing teams such as the Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers as squads with clear advantages over the decimated Dubs.

But, this couldn’t be more wrong. Not only are the Dubs a lock for the postseason (assuming the core remains healthy) by they are easily a top-three team in the Western Conference. Even with the injury to Thompson, the front office has managed to build a competent supporting cast around their stars. Look at their current rotation:

  • Stephen Curry – Starter
  • Andrew Wiggins – Starter
  • Kelly Oubre Jr. – Starter
  • Draymond Green – Starter
  • James Wiseman – Starter
  • Kent Bazemore – Sixth Man
  • Eric Paschall – Bench
  • Brad Wanamaker – Bench
  • Marquese Chriss – Bench
  • Jordan Poole – Bench
  • Damion Lee – Bench
  • Kevon Looney – Bench

With a two-time MVP and former Defensive Player of the Year leading the way, the Dubs already have more talent than most teams in the NBA. Include a rising star in Oubre, a versatile scorer in Wiggins and a potential Rookie of the Year in James Wiseman and this roster is solid.

This isn’t even mentioning a reliable sixth man like Kent Bazemore, a defensive-oriented backup guard in Brad Wanamaker, a 2019 All-Rookie member in Eric Paschall and an athletic big in Marquese Chriss.

To really get a grasp of what the Dubs might look like next season, let’s reflect on their latest postseason run which was plagued with injury. In the absence of Kevin Durant, Curry posted an unbelievable 34.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists per game on 45.3 percent shooting to propel the Dubs past the Houston Rockets and sweep the Portland Trail Blazers.

Are we really questioning if Curry is capable of beating teams like Portland and Phoenix? Is there any doubt that the duo of Curry and Green is enough to battle for a spot in the NBA Finals? Have we already forgotten how talented these two are?

We will see how the season plays out – but I wouldn’t pick any Western teams other than the LA Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers to beat the Warriors in a seven-game series next season.
