The stage is set for Stephen Curry to have his most prolific chapter yet as the Golden State Warriors look to defy all odds.

It’s going to take one hell of a season from Stephen Curry to keep the Golden State Warriors in title contention. If the two-time MVP’s history is anything to learn from – we can expect nothing but greatness from Curry next year.

Curry has been the driving force behind five trips to the NBA Finals and three championship runs in the last few years for Golden State. While he certainly benefited from a strong supporting cast – there is no questioning Curry’s impact on the Dubs’ success.

Next season will be a big one for his legacy. Kevin Durant is gone and Klay Thompson is sidelined with an Achilles injury. Unless Draymond Green has a major resurgence, it’s possible Curry is the only All-Star on Golen State next season.

There isn’t much of a sample size to judge what Curry will look like without his star teammates. The most recent instance came last year, where he averaged just 20.8 points in an awkward five games plagued with injury. A more accurate representation of what to expect could be his explosion in Game 3 of the 2019 NBA Finals when he scored 47 points in the absence of both Durant and Thompson.

The Warriors will need Curry to carry the heaviest load of his career. Not only will he need to score in bunches but he will be asked to do more defensively without Thompson there to back him up. This is a tall task but something Curry is prepared to do.

The fate of the franchise resides in Curry’s hands. How he performs will directly determine how far they go next year. If this is the case, the Dubs should feel confident that Curry will push them into greatness once again.
