The Golden State Warriors have a disabled player exception (DPE) they now have at their disposal. Could Lou Williams be a potential target?

After having a $9.3 million disabled player exception granted, the Golden State Warriors all of a sudden have more options at their disposal. However, considering the amount they spent to bring in Kelly Oubre Jr., it would be impressive to see them spend more.

One player that could come to mind if they’re will to continue to enhance their roster is the Clippers guard Lou Williams. “Many rival teams also expect the Clippers to trade Lou Williams in their quest to create a fresh-start environment,” New York Times’ reporter Marc Stein wrote.

The Clippers, who missed the conference finals after going all-out for Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, had a failure of a season, and towards the end, it was clear Williams couldn’t be used often cause his defensive was being exposed.

There were a plethora of issues at the end of the Clippers’ stint in the postseason, many of which could’ve been solved. While that could still be the case, the Clippers may also want to unload certain pieces they may not need as much anymore.

Williams, who averaged 18.2 points per game and continued to provide terrific playmaking off the bench, could be a trade candidate if the Warriors give the right offer. Any deal with a first-round pick may suffice for the veteran that may no longer be in the right situation.

That said, let’s dive into three reasons why adding Williams would significantly enhance the Warriors postseason odds.
