Use the DPE

The Golden State Warriors were gifted a disabled player exception valued at around $9.3 million.

From PJ Tucker to Lou Williams, the Warriors will have their option if they want to take them, but after spending so much to add Kelly Oubre Jr., it’s not a forgone conclusion that Joe Lacob will want to spend that much to add a player that may give them a slightly better chance.

But, the fact remains — Tucker or Williams would drastically improve this team. They could add elite bench scoring or gritty defensive and three-point shooting. Either way, the Dubs could get an inch closer to competing in the West.

The Warriors are already far over the salary cap so any addition could come with added luxury tax penalties. The team has several stars, and they only have a few specific needs when considering how they’ll limit their roster around postseason time anyway.

Using the DPE to add a player they need is something the team should do to take yet another step in the right direction.
