The Golden State Warriors will have their work cut out for them next season as the competition is going to be tough from the jump.

It won’t be an easy transition from being a lottery team to a borderline contender for the Golden State Warriors. They are getting thrown straight into the fire this season with heavy-weight opponents listed across their first few weeks of play.

Yes, the first half of the 2020-21 NBA season has been released. There won’t be much time for players like Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre Jr. and James Wiseman to build chemistry with the rest of the team as the Warriors will be tested early on.

They open their schedule with a showdown versus the Brooklyn Nets. This will mark the first duel with Kevin Durant since the two-time MVP left in 2019. Directly after battling Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Dubs will get tested by the Milwaukee Bucks. With the reigning MVP and Defensive Player of the Year looking to redeem himself from an underwhelming postseason run – the Warriors will have their hands full trying to contain Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Next up, the Warriors have a chance to breathe. They take on the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons here, offering an opportunity for them to gain some momentum. It’s vital they take care of work against weaker opponents here as the rest of the schedule isn’t so easy.

The Warriors then have to face off against the Portland Trail Blazers in back-to-back games. The Blazers feel confident that the additions of Robert Covington and Derrick Jones Jr. will help put them over the top. Hopefully, the Dubs can set the tone and humble them early on in the season.

Following a meeting with the Sacramento Kings, the Dubs must brace for consecutive games against the LA Clippers. This will be an explosive two games as the Clippers are desperate to erase their embarrassing exit from the Orlando Bubble.

For their 10th game of the season, the Warriors take on the Toronto Raptors. The latest foe to beat them in the NBA Finals, the Dubs will have a chance to enact revenge with a newly loaded roster.

These 10 games will be pivotal in determining the outlook of the season. A few wins over notable names could push them to the top of league standings. In contrast, fumbling too many opportunities could land the Dubs in the lottery again. Let’s see how the team responds to a tough schedule to start the year.
