Adding James Harden to the Golden State Warriors could create a high-powered offense, but Bill Simmons believes Harden would veto the deal.

There is no replacing Klay Thompson, but trading for James Harden would certainly give the Golden State Warriors a great deal of offensive firepower to supplement his production. However, this unrealistic trade has become even more questionable as Bill Simmons of The Ringer suggests Harden would veto the trade, to begin with.

"“Here’s the problem if you’re Harden — you’re not winning the title if they do that, because Klay Thompson is out for the year,” Simmons said. “So you’re going to play with Steph Curry and Draymond Green and you’re not gonna win the title. You’re in the same spot you are now.“So he’ll veto that … with no Klay Thompson, he’s not talking himself into that.”"

We can talk all day about why the Warriors would be hesitant to give up assets to acquire Harden – but let’s focus for a moment on this ludicrous take from Simmons. Does he truly believe a team of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Harden has the same chance of winning a title as Houston’s current roster?

This lines up with most power rankings who seem to think the Warriors are out of the running for a championship now that Thompson is sidelined. However, Curry and the squad are poised to prove everyone wrong and remind the league how potent these stars truly are.

There is no doubt in my mind that a trio of Harden, Green and Curry would make a serious push for a championship. While there are questions about how the three would fit together, it’s ludicrous to think there isn’t a possibility that they figure out how to succeed.

According to Shams Charania, the Rockets and Warriors have briefly talked about the possibility of making a trade but didn’t dive any deeper into the idea. Nonetheless, I would be surprised to find out that the reason the negotiation stopped was that Harden is opposed to joining the Dubs.
