Wiggins for a former DPOY

Jazz receive: Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman

Warriors receive: Rudy Gobert

Another player the Golden State Warriors should look into targeting is former two-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert. Gobert hurt his relationship with his teammates after seemingly taking Covid-19 as a joke back in March.

While those have probably been mended, there’s no denying that Gobert’s fit with the Utah Jazz could come into question. However, he’s still a player that is among the best defenders in the entire NBA.

Gobert, who made it to his first All-Star game last season, averaged 15.1 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. He also averaged 2.0 blocks per game., the sixth straight season the big man has notched at least a couple of blocks each game.

Gobert is mainly a rim protector, and giving up Wiseman would be a big step for the Warriors as he has the promise to get to the level of a player like Gobert, but if the elite defender is available, the Warriors should only target him if it means not giving up Wiseman as well.

Verdict: Pass
