Ranking the four biggest bargains on the Golden State Warriors roster
Kelly Oubre Jr.
Oubre Jr. was hot with the Suns this past season. The former Kansas Jayhawk pegged 18.7 points per game, a career-high. His work is also paying off as he is seeing more and more time on the court.
Oubre Jr. has become a very skilled player. Barely missing the lottery in the 2015 NBA Draft, the guard has continued to thrive, almost doubling his points per game in every season. He’s improving, and there’s no reason to believe he can’t take that next step.
The Warriors will love to add Oubre Jr.’s three-point shooting.
He made 1.9 triples per game and shot over 35 percent from deep. It wasn’t just his three-point shooting that was at a career-high but also his two-point shooting, which eclipsed 45 percent for the first time.
Oubre Jr. has one season left in which he’ll get paid just over $14 million. For his ceiling, that’s a bargain, and although the Warriors may have overpaid considering the tax implications, Oubre Jr. has the potential to be that good.
