2. Draymond Green’s defense

Something that feels a bit more certain for the Golden State Warriors is Draymond Green’s effectiveness. While the last two seasons have been a bit concerning – there is ample evidence to believe Green will have a renaissance year.

Let’s address the issues. Last season, Green averaged just 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists on woeful shooting percentages. He wasn’t the elite defender we know and love – and the Warriors suffered because of it.

This trend, particularly his shooting efficiency, has been going on for at least two years now. Green shot below 30 percent from the 3-point line in 2019 and barley above that mark in 2018. This is something that has caused the Warriors to lose quite a bit of spacing on offense.

Nonetheless, Green’s main contribution has always been defense. Assuming he is more engaged this year with Stephen Curry back by his side – Green can return to the top of the league as one of the most versatile defenders ever.

Green might not revitalize his jump shot, but he can become an elite defender again. With James Wiseman potentially anchoring efforts in the paint, Green can be weaponized as a threat across the rest of the floor. A Defensive Player of the Year worthy season from Green can help the Dubs be contenders again.
