Golden State Warriors reasons for success: Draymond Green’s return

Draymond Green had been under the weather both with a foot injury and Covid-19. Wiseman and Green were both held out of preseason action due to the virus that has been rapidly spreading across the United States.

Green’s numbers have not been impressive, but his impact has been. The three-time All-Star has scored two points per game. Yes, you read that correctly, and he’s still a reason for the team’s immense success as of late.

Despite scoring six points in three games, Green has been a +17 overall. In the last two games, the team has been 35 points better with him on the court. Green’s impact has been high, and it’s being felt on the offensive end.

Green’s most notable involvement comes in setting his teammates up, not being a main scoring option. Green has neared six assists per game. Given that he’s averaged just over 22 minutes per game, if the season ended today, he’d have his career-high in assists per 36 minutes.

That’s where the team lacked the most with Green sidelined, and his return has helped elevate their level of play.
