While hindsight is 20/20, the Golden State Warriors can rest assured that they made the right choice in drafting James Wiseman.

It didn’t take long for the NBA world to begin questioning the outcome of the most recent draft. With rookies like LaMelo Ball and Tyrese Haliburton standing out above the rest – some are asking if the Golden State Warriors should have drafted someone other than James Wiseman?

Well, I’m here to shut that down immediately. While yes, Ball and Haliburton have been phenomenal, Wiseman has been good too – and it feels safe to say Wiseman is the most logical fit next to the rest of the Warriors.

Wiseman fills a void that has long plagued the Warriors. A truly dominant big-man that can offer elite rim protection and rebounding while also flashing potential as a player who can step out beyond the 3-point line is something the Dubs haven’t had. This dynamic is something they couldn’t have found by signing anybody in free agency, making Wiseman a fantastic choice in the draft.

Some will argue that Ball is actually a better fit because of his ability to create plays off a live dribble. He is already one of the league’s best passers and he commands the floor in a way few players can. This type of threat next to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson would be a load of fun.

However, Ball still has a flair for homerun plays. As a result, he’s prone to turnovers and ill-advised shots from time-to-time. His flashy playstyle is something that would be wildly entertaining in the Bay – but not exactly conducive to winning championships at this stage in Ball’s career.

Wiseman was the safer, more logical fit for the Dubs. With averages of 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game, it’s hard to be upset over the future of the franchise.
