We are a quarter of the way through the 2020-21 NBA season and the Golden State Warriors should be starting to consider what their goal is for the remainder of the year.

As of now, two things are certain about this team: They can compete with anyone on any given night – but they aren’t going to consistently win games as they did in the past. This team’s ceiling might not be higher than a first round exit. This has us questioning, should the Dubs simply fall out of the playoff picture and secure another top-pick?

Whether they like it or not, the Golden State Warriors might end up in the NBA Draft Lottery. Here are the pros and cons of that outcome.

The Warriors finished with a 19-50 record last season en route to landing the No. 2 overall pick. They used this to draft James Wiseman, who has been promising despite his inexperience holding him back from playing big minutes.

Even with Wiseman and the return of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, the Warriors sit at 8-8. They might not make the playoffs anyway, and strategically resting Curry/Green in the back half of the season could help them earn better odds in the lottery.

But, is this a good move for the Warriors? Or should they go all-in and see how far they can go? Let’s debate the pros and cons of being a lottery team once again.
