We are a quarter of the way through the 2020-21 NBA season and the Golden State Warriors are about what we expected. This team doesn’t have the talent to consistently win games – but they can match up with anybody on any given night.

How do we gauge the Warriors this season without Klay Thompson? How early can we judge players like James Wiseman and Kelly Oubre? There’s no telling what the 0Warriors will look like with some experience under their belt but all things point to this – it’s unlikely the Dubs win a title this year.

Even at full strength, battling this season may be a futile effort for the Golden State Warriors who are best off punting this year away.

The Warriors aren’t interested in throwing a year of Stephen Curry’s prime down the drain. We wouldn’t expect them to flat out tank like teams of the past. Yet, the Dubs can successfully punt this season by strategically resting their stars and becoming sellers at the deadline.

What would be the benefit of missing the playoffs and focusing all of their energy towards next season? Let’s break down three reasons the Dubs should consider punting this season.
