Golden State Warriors: Klay Thompson’s return

This season could have been far different if Klay Thompson was available to play. Together, the Splash Brothers haven’t lost a Western Conference Playoff series since 2014. With a good enough supporting cast, there’s no question the Golden State Warriors would be able to win another championship if Thompson and Stephen Curry are on the court.

Sadly, we won’t be seeing the two suit up this season. Not together, at least. Thompson is out for a few more months with a ruptured Achilles and it’s highly unlikely he returns even if the season is suspended in some form.

This puts the Dubs in a tough position. Realistically, they don’t have enough firepower to win without Thompson. Sure, Curry could pole vault them into a deep playoff run – but could he push them to a chip on his own? Probably not.

If the outcome of this season is anything other than a championship – do the Warriors really even care what happens? The team could cut their losses and miss the postseason altogether to experience the benefits we will list next.
