Golden State Warriors: Overworking Curry and Green

This season has not been easy for Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. In addition to playing the fourth hardest schedule thus far, Curry is posting a high usage rate and playing at one of the highest paces in the league.

Curry is at the second-highest usage rate of his career and could easily surpass his 2015-16 number if the Warriors continue to rely on him so heavily. He is the core reason for their success and it will become a major problem if nobody else steps up.

As for Green, he’s actually playing at the lowest rate of his career – but that doesn’t mean the physical toll of being in his ninth season isn’t catching up with him. Green is 30 years old now and doesn’t have much left in the tank to contribute to a championship team at a high level.

Instead of pushing Curry and Green to the brink simply to lose in the postseason – why not keep them fresh and go all-in next season? The Warriors might not have many more shots at a title – it’s best if they don’t waste anything left in the chamber on a hopeless season.
