The Golden State Warriors were reportedly interested in trading Kelly Oubre Jr. to New Orleans, but that may not be the only destination that makes sense.
When the Golden State Warriors traded for Kelly Oubre Jr., using their $17.2 million trade exception, they expected to add the player that was an absolute stud for the Phoenix Suns last season.
So far this season, that player has rarely shown up.
Oubre Jr.’s scoring has been about two-thirds of what it was a season ago, averaging under 12 points per game. He eclipsed 18 points per game a season ago. His shooting has also been brutal, averaging under 25 percent from downtown.
He must be better, and he may need to pick it up quickly though. Oubre Jr., according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, may be a name dealt in a potential deal with the New Orleans Pelicans as the Dubs target Lonzo Ball.
Given his contract is over $14 million, it may also be ideal for the team in terms of where they stand in their cap situation. That said, let’s dive into three trades that may be beneficial for the Warriors that involve Oubre Jr.
