The Golden State Warriors have breezed past the easy opponents – and struggled against the NBA’s titans. Fortunately, the second half of the season sees them playing fewer of the latter.

Golden State holds a 5-9 record against current playoff teams and 7-2 against lottery squads. There is a clear disparity here and lends us to believe that the Warriors are somewhere in the middle of the pack – between the true contenders and bottom dweller teams.

The Golden State Warriors haven’t faired well against the NBA’s stronger competition – but they won’t have to worry about that much longer.

This isn’t to say the Warriors have rolled over against stronger foes. They have notched impressive wins over both Los Angeles teams and the Portland Trail Blazers. It’s obvious the Warriors can compete on any given night, they just can’t do it consistently.

Luckily, the Warriors have the 14th easiest schedule remaining. This comes after they had the fourth hardest strength of schedule through a quarter of the year. All calculations are made by Tankathon – who acknowledges this season has been a weird one, to say the least.

Nonetheless, the Dubs have a string of games against some of the Eastern Conference’s weakest teams. As Golden State has been hitting their stride as of late, we have to assume they will rack up a few wins here and improve their overall record.

Andrew Wiggins is steadily proving he has made the leap to becoming a quality role player. He’s playing phenomenal perimeter defense and drilling a career-high 37.7 percent of his 3-point attempts. His two-way presence is beginning to make a real difference.

Meanwhile, Kelly Oubre is fresh off an explosive 40 point game that will hopefully spur a breath of confidence into the struggling forward. The Warriors’ offense will become very tough to stop if Oubre can become a consistent threat.

As they currently stand, the Warriors are in eighth place in the West and only one game back from the fourth seed. A strong run in the middle of the season could see them shock everybody and steal homecourt advantage for the playoffs.
