Draymond Greens hypes up Nets, calls them “team to beat in East”
Draymond Green has been the soul of the Golden State Warriors for a decade, and the beloved forward gave high praise to the Kevin Durant-led Nets.
The Golden State Warriors won on Monday night, but before that, they lost to the Brooklyn Nets for the second time this season, and three-time All-Star Draymond Green knows that they’ll be the team to beat in the East.
The Brooklyn Nets easily have the league’s most offensive star power.
With Kyrie Irving, a player the Warriors know well, Kevin Durant, a player the Warriors know even better, and then James Harden all on their roster, there’s really no team that can even get close to competing with their dominance on the offensive end.
Now, the Nets will struggle defensive, and they showed that slack when playing Golden State, allowing over 115 points. Brooklyn just can’t defend, but with Kevin Durant in the lineup, they have the length and may just need more time to get acclimated to each other.
Either way, following the Warriors’ second loss of the season to Brooklyn, Green gave his honest opinion of the Durant-led team, and he praised them, saying that they’re “the team to beat in the East.”
"“I think there are some other good teams in the East that poses a threat to them, but, they’re the team to beat in the East if you ask me. It’s my opinion. That doesn’t mean anything, but that’s my opinion, they’re definitely the team to beat in the East,” Green said via CBS Sports’ Colin Ward-Henninger."
The Nets are going to be one of the most difficult teams to slow down. Before everyone is ready to crown them champions in the Eastern Conference, I think we need to see them play as a unit more consistently.
Durant has missed several of the team’s games over the past few weeks. He’s the catalyst that makes this team go from great to historic, especially given his prowess on the defensive end of the court.
The Warriors have lost both games to Brooklyn by 15-plus points. They just can’t slow down Irving, Harden, and Durant.
While the Warriors offense has been electric this season, keeping up with that three-headed monster is tough, and it’s something Golden State had the luxury of doing to teams over the last half a decade.
That said, Green has a point, but with teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, and Milwaukee Bucks in the East, many teams will have a say at who competes for the conference’s spot in the 2021 NBA Finals.
