A lot has been written about how the Golden State Warriors are not as good as they used to be. How much they miss Klay Thompson. How Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr. need to improve. But one of the bright spots has been the play of Stephen Curry.

Fans have short memories, at the beginning of the season, there were doubts if Steph could bring it every night at age 32 without Klay and Kevin Durant. Fans were worried that he was exiting his prime and would not be able to handle the constant double teaming.

Up until last season, Steph has had it pretty good. Being surrounded by 2-3 other all-stars and great role players made the game very easy for him. But not only has he shown he can handle the workload, but he has also taken his game to a new level. Which is insane to think was possible.

If there’s one thing everyone in the NBA is learning about the Golden State Warriors – it’s to never question Stephen Curry.

Curry literally looks like he is back in college carrying Davidson to the Final Four by himself. If you’re too young to remember, then check out this video.

Building on his legacy

While this season will probably not end with the Warriors hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy. It will serve to cement Curry’s legacy even further. It seems like LeBron James is the only player that has reached the mountain top and continued to take his game to new heights. It’s great to see Steph show that he can do so as well. He is averaging 30.1 points , shooting 43.6 percent from beyond the arc and has an effective field goal percentage of 62.3 percent, the second-highest in his career.

Despite being one of the best players in the NBA over the past 8 seasons, there has always been criticism. A lot of folks discounted his back-to-back MVP awards by saying he wasn’t the best player in the NBA. They would say LeBron James and Kevin Durant are better. The argument was that Curry had benefited from having better teammates, they also like to point to his playoff performances pre-K.D. as evidence.

Steph has nothing to prove, he is a lock for the hall of fame, and will go down as the best shooter in NBA history. Very few players have not only dominated but revolutionized the game as Steph has. Most stars would complain about the roster he has this season and be looking to take nights off to extend their careers. Not Steph, he hasn’t complained once, instead, he is out there every night carrying his team.

Reaching G.O.A.T. status

This season the Warriors need Steph more than ever. Every game is a battle and there is no margin for error. In the past, the Warriors could withstand injuries to key players and keep on winning. In 2015-16 when they won 72 games, Harrison Barnes missed 16 regular season games and Curry missed 6 playoff games.

There are teams that still get amped up to play the Warriors. They want to enact some payback to for dominating the NBA for 5 seasons. Also, players want to show they can beat Curry now that he is not surrounded by a Super Team. Don’t think Damian Lillard and Chris Paul just to name a few star guards are not looking to take it to Steph and the Warriors this season.

With both their centers out the Warriors have been forced to start Juan Toscano-Anderson next to Draymond Green, two  6’6″ players having to match up against the opposing teams’ big men. While this would be the moment when the Warriors would be expected to fade, instead they are staying afloat because Curry has taken his game to a new level. His play over the last 10 games has led some to compare him to Jordan. Just as Steph Curry put a small college for the Southern conference on the map with his dazzling talent, he is now made an empty Chase Center feel electric when he steps on the court.
