Damian Lillard has yet to win a championship. Stephen Curry has three. If you switch the two, is the result for the Golden State Warriors the same? That’s the burning question that has been talked about so much these last few years.

The other part of Lillard’s career that is widely respected is his loyalty to Rip City.

Lillard has developed into one of the best point guards in the NBA, and he hasn’t chased a trade or forced the management’s hand. Neither has Curry, so comparing the two in that aspect doesn’t make sense.

Both insane shooters, Curry has cemented himself as one of the best guards in NBA history, and having hit over 40 percent from deep in every season in which he’s played more than five games, he’s also been widely labeled as the best shooter of all time.

Dame’s high school coach weighed in on the aforementioned question, and Warriors fans won’t like his opinion on the Stephen Curry vs. Lillard debate.

"“Steph has a great team around him and they’ve done amazing things. But if you switch Steph and Dame five years ago, Golden State still wins all those championships,” Orlando Watkins said on 95.7 The Game’s “The Morning Roast.”"

Watkins clearly has a little bias in his debate.

But, to be fair, both sides can make a resounding argument for their opinion. After the heroics we’ve seen from Dame, it’s hard to argue against him. Then again, Curry’s shooting and his leadership are what’s made the Warriors one of the best dynasties in NBA history.

At the end of the day, it’s all theoretical.

While the Warriors have had the edge in the postseason, especially in sweeping the Blazers in the 2019 Western Conference Finals, that still factors in the full team compilation which Lillard stans will say doesn’t fully take into consideration the scope of their argument.

Either way, Stephen Curry put up over 30 points last night despite his Warriors losing a close, hard-fought game. Playing elite basketball, Curry has elevated his game back to an MVP level, and it’s been fantastic to watch.

No one in the NBA is on Stephen Curry’s level as a shooter. I’ll leave it at that.
