The frustrating mediocrity of the Golden State Warriors
An unbalanced attack
While Stephen Curry has busted his ass and played arguably the best basketball of his career this season, the supporting cast has not exactly been pulling their weight.
Brad Wanamaker forgot how to shoot and is looking like his days in the NBA are numbered.
I truly do see the potential in James Wiseman, but at his current state, he is dropping bounce passes and playing a unique style of defense that does not incorporate stopping the other team from scoring.
Looney’s body is sadly withering at the ripe age of 25.

I don’t think there is any team in the league that wants anything to do with Alen Smailagic, yet here he is on our roster getting paid an NBA salary. Why?
Draymond Green has shown he is still a defensive wizard when he wants to be, but his offense is a far cry from his peak form in 2016.
Kent Bazemore is among the league leaders (12th) in fouls per minute and it certainly feels like they have all been on three-point shooters.
And then there’s Eric Paschall, who can plow over defenders with his linebacker frame but seems to forget that there are four other players with the same jersey.
Ok, maybe these players don’t deserve the individual call-outs. It truly has been a group effort for the Dubs to arrive at their current 9th place ranking in the west. Nevertheless, the frustration is palpable.
As I scroll through the NBA team stats, the Warriors unsurprisingly rank in the middle of the pack in most categories. However, most glaringly they are 22nd in offensive rating. That’s not the sign of a winning team. It almost feels impossible to be so poor on offense with how well Steph Curry has been playing this year.
On the bright side, they do lead the league in assists and are 4th in defensive rating. Maybe Kerr does know a thing or two about basketball?
The bottom line is the Warriors clearly need to get better, especially if they intend to continue to have the league’s highest payroll and keep Steph around when his contract runs out in 2022.
