3 trade targets that would get the Golden State Warriors over the hump
Victor Oladipo
One player the Warriors have engaged in conversations for is shooting guard Victor Oladipo. After being dealt to the Rockets from the Pacers, Oladipo likely won’t end the season with Houston, a team not even close to playoff contention.
Oladipo is worthy of a first-round pick. However, he’s not worth the team’s 2021 first-round pick that they’ll be obtaining from Minnesota.
Especially on the last year of his deal and with Klay Thompson coming back, a deal for Oladipo would likely just be a one-year rental for the former All-Star. That begs the question if it’d be worth it for Golden State.
Oladipo is averaging 20.1 points per game this season, the second-most of his career. On top of that, he’s bringing in 5.2 rebounds and dishing out 4.7 assists per game, both figures that would drastically improve the Warriors.
At the end of the day, if Myers believes that Oladipo makes them a playoff-contending team and Wiggins (who would likely be dealt to balance the contracts) is that expendable, then this is a deal both parties may like.
