Currently, on a four-game losing streak, the Golden State Warriors need to figure it out.
You can tell that the team is slipping out of playoff contention when a passionate Stephen Curry looks to fire his team up. That’s not a personality it feels like we typically see of the two-time MVP. We’re seeing a team in desperation mode, and it’s not going to get any easier.
The Golden State Warriors need to win six or seven of their next ten in order to put themselves in a good place heading into the home stretch.
Coming into the season, it was obvious the Golden State Warriors were going to need a herculean effort from Stephen Curry on a nightly basis in order to get to the postseason. To be fair, he’s given them just that.
Curry is averaging over 29 points per game and ranks in the top five in scoring. He’s that good, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to the success of the team in a difficult conference.
With four straight sub-113 performances, the Warriors have slid to No. 13 in the league in terms of points per game. While their defensive rating is surprisingly high, the Warriors have had some absolute blowout losses to top-tier teams.
Over the last four games, the Warriors have lost to both teams in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Portland. Golden State really needed to pull out a nail-biting game against the Blazers. Not hitting 100 twice, Golden State has not looked good, and they’ll need to turn that around soon.
In the next ten days, they have six games. A double-header against the Grizzlies is going to be the best chance for them to find some sort of success. They’ll also get a must-win shot at Houston.
Aside from those three, the Dubs will draw Philadelphia, who will likely be without Embiid, an Anthony Davis-less Lakers, and the Jazz. Of those six, if the Warriors can win five, they’ll put themselves back into playoff position and possibly with a small cushion as well.
This next step of games is going to be huge to see how Golden State can respond. At the beginning of the season, it also felt like all hope was lost after two brutal blowouts to the Bucks and Nets. They were able to rebound and defeat the Lakers and Clippers late in the year.
They need that same energy over these next ten days. Six games won’t necessarily determine their season, but if they go 2-4 in them, it will be huge for them in terms of making the postseason.
