Another day, another report. The Golden State Warriors are rumored to be one of a few teams interested in going after Orlando’s Aaron Gordon in a potential deal before the deadline.

Gordon, a 25-year-old forward, is having a down-year all-around. He’s scoring fewer points, grabbing fewer rebounds and playing fewer minutes than in each of his last four seasons. The only thing that has improved is his playmaking and 3-point shooting, dishing a career-high 4.0 assists and shooting 36.5 from the 3-point line, also a career-best.

The Magic originally held Gordon as a key piece to their rebuild, hoping he would one day become a franchise player. However, Orlando is now accepting the reality that Gordon may never realize that potential and looking to capitalize on his trade value while they can.

The Orlando Magic are looking to part ways with Aaron Gordon and the Golden State Warriors are one of the teams showing interest.

Bleacher Report stated that Golden State is among a few different teams interested in the young frontcourt player. Gordon has dealt with injuries throughout the season that have played a role in his dwindling numbers – meaning the Dubs likely have faith he can elevate his status with health and a change of scenery.

Gordon would help the Warriors add depth to their rotation. He’s a quality ball-handler for his size and has shown promise as a floor-spacer. His athleticism will continue to decline as injuries pile up but he’s still well above average in that department.

The main problem is matching salary. Gordon is set to make $16 million next season and is worth $18 million this year. This will put the Dubs in a tough situation where players like Kelly Oubre Jr. are the most likely candidates to be included in a deal.

If it comes down to trading Oubre – the Dubs should avoid Gordon. In fact, they might be better off ignoring this situation altogether, as throwing in a bunch of other players to make this work financially doesn’t seem worth it in the long run.
